U.S.-Iraq Relations During President Trump’s Term: Challenges and Opportunities
The Rawaq Baghdad Center for Public Policy held a special session presented by Ambassador Lukman Abdul Rahim Al-Faili, in which he examined U.S.-Iraq relations during President Donald Trump's second presidential term and the American vision for its relationship with Iraq.
Ambassador Al-Faili provided a brief historical overview of bilateral relations between the two countries and the key factors that have shaped this relationship—particularly in the areas of energy, counterterrorism, and the broader U.S. strategy toward the Middle East, with a focus on Iraq’s position within that framework.
In addition, Ambassador Al-Faili presented a panoramic view of key indicators of the Iraqi state, including i nternal spending, military, agricultural, industrial, and health sectors, as well as the country's social transformations and their impact on Iraqi foreign policy.
The session was moderated by Dr. Alaa Hameed and attended by a distinguished group of think tank directors, politicians, and international relations researchers. It was held at Jaafar Abu Al-Timman Hall, located within the Rawaq Baghdad Center for Public Policy.
