In collaboration with the Center for Strategic and International Studies at the College of Political Science, University of Baghdad, the Rawaq Baghdad Center for Public Policy held a dialogue seminar on the topic:
“The Iraqi Economy: From Centralization to Fragmentation”,
which is also the title of the eleventh and final issue of Rawaq Magazine.
The seminar, hosted at Dr. Jihad Al-Hassani Hall at the University of Baghdad, began with an introductory speech about the center and its projects, delivered by Dr. Alaa Hameed Idrees, a member of the Center’s Board of Directors and Editor-in-Chief of Rawaq Magazine. He also highlighted the magazine’s editorial approach and the nature of the materials it publishes, especially in its latest issue, which focused on the evolution of the Iraqi economy through contributions from a range of purposeful and objective writers and researchers.
The seminar addressed several key themes, most notably:
The Problem of Corruption in Iraq and the Concept of State Capture – presented by Dr. Hamed Raheem Janani
Digital Transformation in Iraq – presented by Dr. Mohammed Ismat Al-Bayati
The GDP Map and the Development Standard – presented by Dr. Salam Hamil Brighish
The seminar, distinguished by the presence of prominent intellectuals and academics, was moderated by Dr. Sattar Jabbar Alai. The event featured rich discussions and insightful interventions between the presenters and the audience.
